First week of school

The first week of school is over and I was informed by one of my students (frogman) that I need to update my blog. Well, I guess at least one person reads this thing!

After just the first week I am extremely impressed by my students. My classes are filled with people that I instantly like and enjoy spending time with. My AP class has really impressed me and I hope that they all choose to take the AP exam in May. I see talent in that class! It is a large class and I would usually try to scare a few of them into dropping the class, but I would be sad to lose any of the students in that class, even "trouble maker". (AWE, now I am getting all mushy!) My honors class has equally impressed me. Now if I can just get you guys to talk when it comes time to discuss! As for my 4th period... we will get there. We got off to a rough start, but I truly think we can have a good semester. Our class will be a little smaller on Tuesday and I hope that we can start the week on a positive note. I know you don't believe me, but I do like all of you. Give me a chance and I will try to prove it to you.

I truly enjoy going to school in the morning and spending the day with my students. Next week we will get in full gear and hopefully I will make you understand that Interactive notebook that a few of you hate (4th period) (:

First Day of School

Tomorrow is the first day of school and I am excited to get started. I am sure students will be amazed to know that teachers get nervous about the beginning of the school year. I am not sure I will sleep tonight! Not only is this the first day of school for me, it is the first day at a new school! I am embarking on the unknown. Who are these students who will be coming through my door? I know as much about them as they know about me; NOTHING.

I met several students during open house and every single one of them seemed nice and I look forward to getting to know them all. I tried to remember all their names, but I am not sure I managed it. I do remember one young man in my homeroom who tried to tell me that we should do homework instead of our homeroom work. He even told me we could pretend to do the assignments and work out a way to fool the administration. Good try Sir! But, I have been around long enough not to fall for that! LOL (Remember what I do to homework, rip, rip).

Ok, I will try to write tomorrow about the first day!

My website was just hacked and that really ticked me off. What jerks you are! I don't understand people with no regard for others. Do you have nothing better to do than make other people's lives miserable? How sad your life must be. Poor little hacker has no friends and must put up stupid pages on other people's websites. Ok, I feel better now.

How will history remember us?

This is my first attempt at blogging, so be kind as you read my ramblings. I often wonder how people 100 years from now will get to know us as a people. We don't leave letters or diaries behind, we post blogs to the Internet, write emails or IM! I enjoy reading letters written by husbands to wives at home during times of war, or the funny letters First Wives write their President husbands. It is good to know that the "leader of the free world" is just as much a forgetful boy as the rest of the men in the world (hum? perhaps I shouldn't have written that on the Internet!) When our technology changes, how will people access these great portraits into people's lives? Well, we will worry about that problem later or should we start printing now?

I think I will use this blog to write about the books I am reading or interesting facts I learn along the way. I will also share my educational adventures. I will avoid telling you how many times I fall down the stairs or break my little toe or get locked out of my house. I will keep all those events to myself.
