This website has been around since 2001and was in need of a major makeover. The main focus of this site is to provide resources for U.S. History students and teachers. The website will still offer information on WebQuests, but that is no longer the main focus. Please contact me with questions or suggestions. My email is cris.higginbotham[insert@]gmail.com.

ATTENTION STUDENTS!!! Harvard University recently announced that they will eliminate the partental contribution from families earning $60,000 or less and that families earning $180,000 or less will be asked to contribute much less. This is great news! Many of you should apply to Harvard and now the cost will not stand in your way. Check out the website for more information www.fao.fas.harvard.edu

My name is Cris Higginbotham and I have been an educator for about 14 years. I am currently a high school AP and U.S. history teacher; however, I began as an adult education teacher and graduated to K-12 education in 1998. My first job in the K-12 setting was teaching 7th grade Africa and Asia social studies, 6th grade health and PE, and 6th grade mathematics. Obviously this was before NCLB and the Era of the Highly Qualified teacher. When I started teaching all I had was a B.A. in History with a concentration in U.S. history. I ask myself all the time how I was able to pull it off? Perhaps we should poll some of my past students, they may say I didn't! The second question I ask myself is how did I do it before the World Wide Web? I am constantly amazed by the amount of resources on the web; sometimes the sheer volume is overwhelming. When I find information that is useful to me, I think it may be useful to someone else. This website is a collection of links I found searching the web and projects I have created myself. I hope that you find the resources on this website helpful and please contact me if you find a great resource or have a question. My email is cris.higginbotham[insert@]gmail.com. (This is to keep the Internet spammers at bay).

Gadgets I Love

The Iliad Reader by iRex Technologies is one of my favorite toys. This little gem is MobiPocket compatable. I either buy ebooks from Fictionwise or I convert my documents using the MobiPocket Creator. Fictionwise also has a free lending library, give it a try and you will be hooked too!

The Blackberry Bold is a tool that is always with me. Not only is it a great phone, I can stay connected through email, text, and BlackBerry Messenger. I also read Mobipocket ebooks when my Iliad is home taking a nap.

What is not to love about the iPod? I listen to music, listen to my favorite audiobooks that I download from Audibles, and watch movies and tv shows. Audibles also has free Podcasts and audiobooks.

I love my Canon XTi Rebel camara, but I have let other things get in the way of taking pictures lately. I really need to work on sitting back and "snapping" the roses!

My Roomba is named Sonny. I love him so. He cleans my house every morning and he entertains my dogs and my cat!

Research Resources

This is my favorite section of the website because it is filled with historical documents, images, and anything else a historian dreams of. This makes me want to write a research paper!

WebQuests

This section is dedicated to providing educators with information for creating original Webquests and a sampling of the WebQuests available on the Internet.

Lessons & Links

This section is primarily for teachers. This page has lesson ideas and links for creating lessons. Also see the Research and Resources page. You will love it!
